Your Full-Service Authentication Destination.
If you are reading this, it's probably because you've been told that you need an apostille for your important documents, but you’ve never heard of one before. What is an apostille? Where do you get an apostille seal or stamp? What are the requirements?
Obtaining an apostille certificate can sometimes be a complicated process and may take days or even weeks to get. If you’re feeling lost and confused, you’re not alone. Many people face these challenges when they first hear about an apostille.
Most people have never heard of an apostille until they need one. An apostille is a special certificate that makes a document from one country valid in another country. It’s like a passport for your document, but figuring out how to get one can be confusing or overwhelming.
Once you understand what an apostille is, the next challenge is figuring out where to get it. Different states have different rules and offices for issuing apostilles which depend on the country of destination and the type of document, among other factors, making the process even more complicated.
Even if you know where to go, you might not know what documents or steps are needed. Each type of document (i.e., birth certificates, school transcripts, or Articles of Incorporation) will have different requirements, and navigating the process can be tedious.
An Apostille (Pronounced "Ap-pos-steel" and "Ap-pos-stee") is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document, such as a birth certificate, Power of Attorney, diploma, or business contract, so that the document will be accepted in countries that are members of the Hague Convention of 1961.
A Certificate of Authentication is similar to an Apostille but is used in non-Hague countries.
Common documents:
You can get an apostille from the designated competent authority in the state where the document was originally issued.
Each state has its own office that handles the apostille process.
The requirements for getting an apostille can vary depending on the type of document and the issuing state or country.
It's important to check the specific requirements for your state and the destination country, as they can differ.
It is very important that you are able to provide the following information:
There may be delays in document processing during peak seasons such as the Summer months (June through September) and Holidays (November through January).
Due to possible delays, it is highly advised that you do not book any travel or events, secure any property, etc. until your documents have the proper apostille and/or authentication approval.
